DXB Terminal 1, 2 and 3 Explained: Where Your Driver Meets You

Dubai International has three terminals, and which one you land at depends entirely on your airline: Emirates and most flydubai flights use Terminal 3, the big international carriers such as British Airways, Qatar Airways and Lufthansa use Terminal 1, and Terminal 2 handles smaller regional and low-cost airlines. Your Emirates Limo chauffeur checks your flight number, goes to the right terminal, and waits inside the arrivals hall with a name board. You do not need to work out the terminal yourself, but it helps to know what to expect when the doors open.

Which terminal will my flight land at in DXB?

Your airline decides your terminal, not your destination or your ticket class. Dubai Airports confirms that DXB has three terminals, and its airline directory lists the terminal each carrier uses, so a quick search of your airline there settles it.

Emirates is Terminal 3, and so are United and Air Canada. Qatar Airways, British Airways, Lufthansa, Air India and IndiGo are all listed under Terminal 1. Flydubai is the one airline that splits across Terminal 2, Terminal 3 and DWC, so check your booking confirmation for that one.

What should I have ready before I land?

A private pickup only goes wrong when the chauffeur and the passenger have different information. Five things, sorted before take-off, remove almost every problem.

• Your flight number, entered exactly as it appears on your boarding pass, so the chauffeur tracks the right flight.
• Your airline's terminal, checked against the Dubai Airports airline directory, especially if you fly flydubai.
• The name the booking is under, spelt the way it will appear on the name board.
• A phone that works on arrival, or WhatsApp on airport Wi-Fi, in case you need to reach the chauffeur.
• Your passenger and bag count, matched to the vehicle you booked from the Emirates Limo fleet.

Where does my driver meet me at Terminal 3?

Your chauffeur stands inside the Terminal 3 arrivals hall, holding a name board, right where passengers come out after customs. Emirates confirms that its flights arrive at gates A, B or C at Emirates Terminal 3, and all of those feed into one public arrivals area.

The walk from the gate can be long. A Gates sit in a separate concourse, and Dubai Airports notes that travellers move between A Gates and the rest of Terminal 3 by a short ride on the airport train. Then comes passport control, baggage reclaim and customs, and only after that do you reach the hall where the chauffeur waits.

This is the reason a private pickup includes 60 minutes of free waiting time at the airport, counted from the moment your flight actually lands. Nobody is checking a stopwatch while you queue at immigration.

Where does my driver meet me at Terminal 1?

Terminal 1 has its own arrivals hall, and your chauffeur waits inside it with the name board in the same way. Dubai Airports describes Terminal 1 as the home of the D Gates, serving numerous international carriers, which is why so many European, Asian and Gulf airlines land here.

Passengers reach the D Gates concourse from the main Terminal 1 building by airport train, so allow for that on the way out as well. Once you clear immigration and collect your bags, follow the signs for arrivals and look for the boards. If you booked a private chauffeur pickup at DXB, the chauffeur already knows you are on a Terminal 1 flight and is standing in the right hall.

Where does my driver meet me at Terminal 2?

Terminal 2 is the smallest of the three and sits on the opposite side of the runways from Terminals 1 and 3. Dubai Airports lists it as the F Gates, offering access to regional and international flights, and the airline directory shows a long list of regional carriers plus some flydubai services using it.

The arrivals hall here is compact, so the name board is easy to spot as soon as you walk out. The bigger risk at Terminal 2 is the passenger going to the wrong side of the airport. It is not a short stroll from Terminal 1 or 3, so the flight number on your booking matters more here than anywhere else.

Can I walk between the DXB terminals?

Terminals 1 and 3 are connected, but Terminal 2 is not within walking distance of either. Emirates explains that connecting passengers move between terminals by shuttle bus from the connections desks, with buses running from Concourses A, B and C to the D and F Gates.

Those shuttles are for transit passengers airside, not for someone who has already cleared immigration. If you come out of the wrong terminal on the public side, the practical fix is to call the chauffeur and let the car come to you rather than trying to cross the airport on foot with luggage.

What goes wrong with DXB pickups, and how do I avoid it?

Almost every missed pickup at Dubai International comes down to one of four avoidable mistakes. None of them is about the airport being confusing; they are about the booking details being wrong or out of date.

The wrong flight number. A typo in the flight number means the chauffeur tracks a different aircraft, possibly one landing hours earlier or at a different terminal. Copy it from your boarding pass, including the two-letter airline code, and check it once more before you submit the booking.

Assuming the terminal. Frequent flyers who always land at Terminal 3 sometimes book a codeshare and arrive at Terminal 1 without noticing. The chauffeur goes by the flight number on the booking, so if the flight number is right, the terminal is right too.

Walking out and looking outside. The meeting point is inside the arrivals hall, at the name boards, not at the kerb. Taxi ranks and drop-off zones are for a different kind of journey, so ignore them and look for your name first.

Last-minute changes without telling anyone. If you rebook onto a different flight, the tracking is now watching the wrong one. Message or call +971 56 996 4924 with the new flight number, and the pickup moves with you.

Cancellation is simple and worth knowing before you fly. Cancel 24 hours or more before pickup for a full refund; inside 24 hours, and for no-shows, the booking is charged in full.

How does flight tracking change my pickup time?

Your pickup time is tied to your actual landing time, not the scheduled one. If the flight lands 40 minutes early, the chauffeur is already in the hall; if it lands two hours late, the chauffeur arrives two hours later, and there is no extra charge either way.

The 60 minutes of free waiting time starts once the wheels touch down. That covers the airport train from a remote concourse, the immigration queue and baggage reclaim on a normal arrival. Which car should I book for a DXB pickup?

Book by bag count, not just passenger count, because the walk from the arrivals hall to the car is where a tight boot becomes a problem. The table below uses the site's own figures.

Dubai Airports notes that anyone moving between DXB and DWC has to clear passport control, collect baggage and travel by road or Metro between the two, so treat them as different destinations when you book.
