Traffic on E11 through Marina and Business Bay is what stretches the journey, so a morning arrival on a weekday usually means a slower run than a late-night one.

The catch is that the meter keeps running in traffic, so the same ride into Downtown can cost noticeably more at 8am on a Tuesday than at midnight. You also carry your own bags to the rank and take whatever car is next in line, which may be a tight squeeze for a family with four suitcases. If your flight lands at a quiet hour the queue is short; at busy times it is not.

Is there a metro or bus from DWC into Dubai?

There is no metro station at DWC. Dubai Airports is clear that the nearest practical connection is Ibn Battuta Mall Metro Station, reached by bus or taxi, so the metro is a second leg rather than a direct option from the terminal.

Two RTA bus routes serve the airport. The F55 links DWC with Expo Metro Station and the N55 runs to Ibn Battuta bus and metro stations, both every 30 minutes according to Dubai Airports. From either station you continue on the Red Line, which runs the length of Sheikh Zayed Road past Marina, Mall of the Emirates, Business Bay and Downtown.

Booking the wrong airport. DWC and DXB are both Dubai, both served by the same airlines in some cases, and roughly an hour apart. Check the three-letter code on your ticket before you book any transfer, and enter it exactly as shown.

What about tolls on the drive from DWC?

Dubai's roads use Salik, an automatic toll gate system on the main routes into the city, and your driver passes through them without stopping. In a taxi the toll is added to the meter.
