Rental car. Car rental desks are in the arrivals hall for anyone who prefers to drive. For a first visit, be honest with yourself about driving an unfamiliar motorway system after a long flight, especially at night.

How long does it take from Zayed International Airport to the city or to Dubai?

Allow around 30 to 40 minutes to central Abu Dhabi and around 90 minutes to Dubai, and add time in the morning and evening rush. The airport sits on the mainland east of Abu Dhabi island, so every route into the city crosses one of the bridges, which is where traffic builds up on a weekday.

The Dubai run is a straight motorway drive up the E11, and the airport's own bus schedule budgets 90 minutes for it.
